Angels are divine beings with far more superior physical capabilities to regular humans. Their bodies are projections from their halos, which are comprised of magic, or whatever that is.
Pure Angels are created when a human's soul separates from its body upon death.
Before, Godot would either send the soul to the afterlife or give them a chance to come to Celestia as an angel. When an angel dies, they may choose to move onto the afterlife or be reborn as human again.
After Godot's death, the jobs were then split between Licuph and Mika. Licuph would create the angels and Mika would send them on their way. With them both now gone, neither is possible. If an angel were to die, their souls would be trapped within their lifeless husks and roam as the Abnormal. If a human were to die, their soul will be left wandering as a abysslings.
Without Licuph, a way to create artificial angels was discovered. After Abyss Princess Azazel had died, her corpse sprouted an azalea tree. With Azazel possessing part of Licuph's blood, these flowers can be offered to humans to create artificial angels.
Artificial angels have less stable physical forms and so are more fragile than pure angels.
Angels disguise themselves as humans to hide their true form and because it is more convenient than moving around as gigantic divine beings.
An angel's appearance is connected to its mind.
Because of this, however, disturbances to an angel's conscious may lead to irreversible mutations. If an angel is ever lost to their thoughts, they will mutate into a horrifying, grotesque form.
If a member of the Seraphim were to mutate, they will gain a horrifying, grotesque form.

Virtues are angels who follow under Mika. They can be distinguished by the wings on their heads.
They possess great magical strength, but light virtues lack physical defense and dark virtues lack magical defense.
Sinners are angels who follow under Licuph. They can be distinguished by horns on their heads instead of wings. They possess great physical power.
They possess great physical strength, but light sinners lack physical defense and dark sinners lack magical defense.
With Mika and Godot gone, new angels cannot be made. However, a way of creating artificial angels have been discovered. Sera and Kamelia are the only ones capable of creating artificial angels.
Artificial angels are limited in strength compared to true angels
The abnormal are angels who've basically died. Without Licuph or Godot, angels cannot move on and their souls are trapped within their lifeless corpses.
An angel may have one of ten different basic natures.
Sub-natures are not attainable upon rebirth. They slowly grow onto an angel.
The red sub-nature has nearly gone extinct following Licuph's and Azazel's executions. It had the special ability of amplifying one's sinful affinities.
The magenta sub-nature, similar to the red sub-nature, has nearly gone extinct as well.
Those of this sub-nature have truly tainted souls.
The white "nature" too, is not exactly a nature, but rather a blank canvas. Every angel has a nature, so to be without one would be rather abnormal. The white "nature" has the special ability of amplifying one's virtuous affinities.
An angel may fall into a sinful or virtuous version of each nature. For example, a sinful RED would be WRATH, and a virtuous RED would be TRANQUILITY.

The Seraphim consists of 8 members: Each representing one of the 8 natures. As of now, the Seraphim consists of Kamelia, Momoka, and Polka.
Archangels are higher ranking virtues. They all work in the Suppression Division, but used to work in the Research Division, too.
The Abyss, also known as the civilization in the deep, is a world far below LIMBO once ruled by Queen Licuph before her execution for the murder of Mika. It used to be the home of Sinners until destroyed by the Mother Angel Seraphine.
